Forests are the lungs of our planet and the endangered rainforests in Southeast Asia, Africa and the Amazon are facing extinction within just a few generations.

This would not only have disastrous consequences for our climate, but would also irreversibly affect people living in and around the forests, and the flora and fauna that may in future prove vital in developing medicines, new crops and biotechnical inventions. Protecting the rainforest is therefore an urgent task – both if we wish to alter the man-made climate changes threatening our planet, and if we wish to pass on a number of vital resources to future generations.

Only by using the forests’ natural resources thoughtfully and respectfully will it be possible to protect them from extinction.

The Canopy Wood™ Code of Conduct provides a strong link between responsible production and consumption of wooden products, enabling consumers all over the world to make sustainable purchasing decisions.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) ecolabel for responsible forestry is at the core of the Canopy Wood™ Code of Conduct.

The Code ensures exclusive use of lesser-known timber species which helps to lift the pressure of ruthless exploited well-known timber species, helping to preserve the forest’s biodiversity, and it secures the adherence to a set of strict social standards to benefit the people in and around the forests. Most importantly – when buying a product marked with the Canopy Wood™ logo you will be part of a collective effort to provide direct protection because The Code allows only timber from endangered rainforest areas which are expected to disappear in just a few years unless preventive measures are initiated.
